Do you celebrate efforts or only achievements?

We live in this materialistic world where achievements are glorified and celebrated.

Materialism doesn’t not cover only the physical assets but also the wins that the ego approves of, such as an award, a recognition, a pay raise, a promotion, mastering a new skill and the list goes on.

Don’t get me wrong, celebrating achievements is great! Gives you great motivation to continue moving forward and upward. It even motivates those others wants to achieve something in their lives.

However, have you ever celebrated efforts even there’s no achievement yet? Have you praised a friend because they are putting in the work towards their achievement?

Well, in the first place, very seldom does people post in social media - “Hey, I’ve been meeting 100 hundred potential clients but none has signed up with me yet.” or “Hey, my client tells me my product needs improvement.” or “Hey, I’ve been crying every night because I've done a lot but not seen any results yet.”

That’s because failure is being looked down upon. How many times has Elon Musk failed before he becomes a billionaire?

Effort is what create achievements but only achievements are gloried. Not many see the sweat and tears put into that achievement. Not many celebrated with a friend when they’re in that stage.

So, from now on, whenever you see a friend trying something new. Although the effort seems insignificant to you, celebrate with them. That’s how they get motivated.
